On behalf of the new Board of Directors, I would like to welcome your son to Plymouth Babe Ruth Baseball.
First, need to apologize if you did not receive the email sent earlier this month regarding the Rose Division Draft. We were using an older data base from Cal Ripken and many emails have changed since then. Again, my apologies!
The Downie Division draft will take place on Tuesday, October 7th. Our delay was due to late registrations and finding 2 new coaches to take over for those that have moved on. However, all is in tact and we will again have 6 teams in the division. Your son will be contacted no later than the 8th of October from one of our Downie coaches.
The Downie Division will offer a 15 game schedule, playoffs and a fantastic evening all star game held under the lights at Plymouth North High School. In addition, this year we are offering an opportunity for all 13 year-old players to participate in an extended summer league that will have our players traveling along the South Shore versus other towns.
Please keep on mind that each year we will draft a minimum of 16 players from the Downie division into the Rose Division. This is based on attending the tryouts as well as recommendations from the Downie coaches based on next year's performance. Honestly, I think the process works, as many of today's high school players have gone through the Downie Division as a 13 year-old.
During the winter, we will have free hitting clinics. Varsity baseball coaches Dwayne Follette (PN) and John Peila (PS) have offered to run our first session. In addition, hitting instructor Bob Boutin will be a guest clinician as well. We will host 4 sessions this winter. More information on this will come late fall.
Finally, as late spring rolls around we will be partnering with the Plymouth Pilgrims to run outdoor clinics. This is an exciting opportunity to expose the kids to some of the finest college baseball players in the country. More information on these clinics to come in the early spring.
As always, we want to express our thanks for choosing Plymouth Babe Ruth. Please note that if you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Looking forward to a great spring!
